Welcome

Thanks for visiting my website. I’m Martin Poole. I live on the Wirral and have been working as a funeral celebrant for over five years. I initially trained with Civil Ceremonies Ltd to gain a Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy. In addition to working as a celebrant, I am also a fully trained counsellor and psychotherapist, which helps when creating a ceremony with those likely to be experiencing a whole range of difficult emotions.

I focus my attention on your needs and assist you in saying farewell to your loved one by creating a unique ceremony that will be meaningful and respectful to their wishes and yours.

Like many celebrants (and therapists) I came to this work later in life. I originally worked as an actor and director in the theatre industry. Many of the skills that I acquired during that time serve me well as a funeral celebrant; I’m organised, used to collaborating with people to create events and, of course, I am comfortable standing in front of a room full of people and can clearly be heard at the back of the room (surprisingly, not all celebrants can be).

I am used to dealing with grief (particularly through my work with the bereavement support charity, Cruse) and I have run free events on the Wirral where the discussion of death is encouraged through a national organisation, Deathcafe. I support the work of the Natural Death Centre and the organisation Dying Matters.
